ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Students should have attended a beginners Course (minimum 40 hours) or have an equivalent knowledge of the language. They should also be familiar with the Arabic alphabet.
GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE To strengthen students' knowledge and ability in Arabic script, language and culture; build on vocabulary and grammar; extend basic understanding of Arabic script and language; extend awareness of Arabic culture; enable students to read and write some Arabic script; and conduct slightly more complex conversations LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course students will be able to: 1. Show an improved knowledge of written Arabic and pronunciation 2. Have increased confidence in basic conversation in different situations 3. Feel they have greater insight into aspects of Arabic culture and everyday life 4. Have increased familiarity with readiong and writing basic script.
GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE Tutor input, written and oral exercises, classroom practice and games will be used throughout the course. DVD's and tapes will be used where available to show authentic scenarios and aspects of life and culture to aid learning. NOTE : Most tutors expect students to carry out some preparation or revision each week (homework).
MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS A notebook and Pen/Pencil should be brought to first session. Students will be required by provide their own materials HOWEVER students may wish to wait until the class commences to get information/advice from tutor before purchasing costly materials e.g. Text Books, until they confirm the viability of the class.
