Class Description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: For complete beginners of the chanter or those with little experience who would like to enhance their finger technique before progressing to bagpipes.
GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE: An introduction to playing the chanter to allow students to progress to Bagpipes LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the course students will have/will know - 1. To learn finger techniques, embellishments and several basic tunes. 2. Read bagpipe music and be familiar with time signatures. 3. Progress into Bagpipe (Chanter) Post Beginners Class.
MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS: Chanter and reed. (If they choose, students may purchase from tutor at the first session of the class at a cost of £20-£25 dependent on type purchased) A Book is also recommended (approx cost £20) and information relating to this will be given at the first session of the class. Handouts will given at the first class. PLEASE NOTE: The viability of the class is dependent on a sufficient number of enrolled students. For this reason students are advised to wait until the first session of the class before purchasing any expensive items of equipment or materials.
