Class Description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements but students should know the basic embellishments and be able to play several tunes in the chanter (with or wothout music)
GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE: To be able to progress onto Bagpipes. LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the course students will have/will know - i) To play all embellishments ii) To play sufficient tunes on chanter and to be able to progress on to the Bagpipes iii) Understand time signatures and be introduced to Airs, Marches and Jigs iv) Understand bagpipe maintenance
GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE: Group tuition and individual tuition MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT: Chanter and reed. (If they choose, students may purchase from tutor at the first session of the class at a cost of £25-£30 dependent on type purchased) A Book is also recommended (approx cost £26) and information relating to this will be given at the first session of the class. Students may wish to wait until the class commences to get information/advice from tutor before purchasing costly materials and also to confirm viability of class. Also discount can be obtained from certain suppliers on production of class receipt. Handouts will given at the first class
