Class Description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS This course is designed for students who have already had at least one year of post-beginners Mandarin lessons.
GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE To enhance what the students have already learned and continue to develop new language skills in reading, writing and spoken Chinese. LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course students will have learned how to: - communicate in Mandarin on certain topics with confidence; - write simple paragraphs; and - read some Chinese poems and simple stories.
GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE The course will start with a revision of what has been learned. Various exercise sheets and conversation practice throughout the course; role play and games will be used; DVD and online resources will be adopted to demonstrate authentic scenarios in everyday life under a Mandarin speaking environment.
MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS A notebook and Pen/Pencil should be brought to first session. Students will be required by provide their own materials HOWEVER students may wish to wait until the class commences to get information/advice from tutor before purchasing costly materials e.g. Text Books, until they confirm the viability of the class. Text books required: Happy Chinese (2&3); New Chinese Situational Dialogues; Interactive Chinese; and Easy Way to Learn Chinese Characters.
