Class Description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: None
GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE: To introduce students to the creative world of knitting and crochet. LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the course, students will know/will have - 1. Basic and intermediate knitting and crochet techniques including - methods of getting started, basic stitches, changing colour, stitch variations, shaping, sewing up. 2. Decorative approaches - hand embroidery stitches and adding in embelishments (beads and sequins). 3. Experimental approaches - knitting and crocheting with wire and beads and felting fabric techniques. 4. How to follow patterns and create projects.
GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE (Methods etc): At the beginning of the course students will be provided with a 10 week course plan of action. Students will be encouraged to work at their own pace. The tutor will bring along samples, projects, books and magazines to each class for inspiration. Notes will be supplied to each student on a weekly basis.
MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS: Thick yarn is advised ie Aran or chunky weight. Darning needle; sewing needle; some thread; some beads/sequins; knitting wire (a list of stockists will be provided) and a note/sketch pad. Tutor will bring along some material on first night of the class and provide list of material for future classes. Students will be required by provide their own materials HOWEVER you may wish to wait until the class commences to get information/advice from the class tutor before purchasing expensive materials and to confirm viability of class.
