Class Description
ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS REQUIRED: No prior knowledge required and a keen interest in flowers/colour combinations is advantageous. Beginners and more advanced students both welcome.
GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE: To teach students how to select flowers (i.e. colour combinations and different textures). To show students how to arrange flowers in both modern and traditional designs. To teach students how to wrap their designs. LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the course students will have learned - 1. How to choose and buy complimentary flowers. 2. How to make a wired buttonhole. 3. Use a recycled container to display flowers. 4. Arrange a hand - tie. 5. Make a round posy arrangement in oasis. METHODS & APPROACHES TO TEACHING THE COURSE: Tutor demonstrates to the class and then assists students while making their arrangements. The tutor advises the students on where and what to buy for the next week's class.
MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT: Students are required to provide their own flowers/foliage/containers etc. and a pair of strong scissors For week 1, students should bring a notebook and pen/pencil only . The tutor will advise students what flowers to bring for future weeks. The cost could be around £6.00 per week dependent on choice of flowers purchased. Tutor will advise on cheaper alternatives i.e. using carnations/chrysanthemums greenery from the garden etc.
