MODERN LANGUAGE ADVANCED (18 or 24 weeks) Spanish/Dutch/Italian/German/Portuguese/Norwegian/Polish/French/Czech/Turkish ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Completion of Intermediate course or 115-130 hours of conversational classes. (or Intermediate 4 at SQA level) GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE: Become more proficient, more fluent and more confident in both speaking and writing. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: To develop the ability to speak and write about regional differences, geography and culture. To improve listening skills by understanding videos and tapes. To discuss and understand important current issues through newspapers, magazines or video clips. LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students will have expanded their vocabulary Students will speak with improved fluency and confidence Students will gain knowledge and understanding of geography, culture and current affairs in another language. Students will become competent in the use of the language to the point where they can sustain a discussion on most topics of common interest. This is not prescriptive as there will be scope for class discussion on topics for discussion and inclusion in the course NOTE : Most tutors expect students to carry out some preparation or revision each week (homework). MATERIALS TO BE PROVIDED BY STUDENT - Notebook & Pen/Pencil OTHER COSTS - Course book/materials as may be recommended by tutor. If text books or materials are required, information will be given on first session of the class and students are advised not to purchase any materials until they are certain that the class is confirmed.
