Class Description
Please note there is only on-street parking at this venue. HATHA YOGA - Is a gentle style of yoga which is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Minimum of one year's yoga experience. Not recommended for anyone during pregnancy: specialist class elsewhere would be appropriate.
GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE: To develop knowledge of and benefits from yoga practise, inlcuding breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation, LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the course students will have learned Increased knowledge and experience of yoga postures. Benefits from yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation: techniques can be used outside class. Some knowledge of yoga history and philosophy.
GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE: Explanations and demonstrations. Adaptations for individual needs - students encouraged to listen to and be aware of their own bodies and needs. Use of blocks and straps for individuals as appropriate.
MATERIALS REQUIRED BY THE STUDENT: Loose, comfortable clothing should be worn. Students are required to purchase their own yoga mat and to provide a blanket to cover themselves during relaxation. Other equipment such as belts, blocks and bricks may be required and information on these will be given by tutor in the class. Recommended Supplier for all yoga requirements is "The Yoga Shop", 25a Rodney Street,Edinburgh, Tel.: 558 3593 who will offer a discount of 10% on production of class receipt. HOWEVER students may wish to wait until the class commences to get information/advice from tutor before purchasing costly materials and also to confirm viability of class.
